If you are travelling to China on business or on holiday and have a power bank in your luggage, you have recently had to be particularly careful. This is because only power banks with CCC labelling may be imported into the country and carried on the plane. This means that many models, especially older ones, are automatically excluded.
What is the CCC labelling?
China Compulsory Certification (CCC) is a legally required certification in China for certain product groups. It serves to ensure product safety and consumer protection. Since August 2023, power banks have officially been considered CCC-compliant products. This means that only power banks with a valid CCC certificate may be imported or brought into the country.
This means:
✅ Only power banks with a CCC certificate may be taken to China.
❌ Powerbanks without CCC labelling – even if they are technically of high quality – can be confiscated during security checks.
Particularly important: Powerbanks sold before 2024 are generally excluded, as there was no possibility of certification before then. Incidentally, a sticker or logo is not enough – only the official CCC status counts during an inspection.
Only power banks with CCC certificate permitted
If you are travelling to China, you should make sure that your power bank is CCC-certified before departure. The airlines and security checks at the airport may refuse to allow you to take it with you if this is not the case.

Conclusion
If you are planning a trip to China, you should be particularly careful when packing your technology. Only CCC-certified power banks may be taken with you – a violation can not only lead to confiscation, but in the worst case also to fines. Therefore, look out for this labelling when buying or switch to a certified model if you regularly travel internationally.
